"Three Reasons You Have Not Received A Recording Contract"

Many of you artists are probably asking the question, "Why have I not been signed by a record label yet?" I have though about this long and hard and have made a list of the three reasons why you have not received a recording music contract by a record label, and here they are:
1. The number one reason you have not received a recording music contract, and probably the most obvious reason, is your talent and skill. You have probably been listening to the radio or MTV and heard a new artist and thought to yourself, "They got signed and not me?" The reason that artist was signed was because they looked great and performed memorable, catchy songs that the record label felt would make them a ton of money.
Before you begin to get angry you need to take a look at yourself. Do you write memorable songs that last no longer than 3 minutes? Do you know your instrument and have played it for a long time? Do you know what a hook is and have one in your song? The hook is the part of a song you will not be able to get out of your head and without it your song will probably not succeed. 2. Luck is another big thing. You will not be able to get a contract based on pure luck but if you have talent and you are lucky you will get signed. Unfortunately you are unable to get lucky, you either are or you are not, but being in the right place at the right time is a big piece of getting signed. You can change your luck, in a way, by having your demo, labeled with your name and number, ready to pass out if someone asks for it. The biggest thing you can do is to re-locate yourself to a major metropolitan area. Although it is not necessary you have bigger chances of being seen in a big city rather than a small town.
3. Timing and trends is a huge part of being signed. If you are playing a type of music that was popular in the 1980's you are already setting yourself up for failure. Now, just because I am saying that older music will not get you signed that does not mean you need to change who you are. If you are a country artist do not start rapping, it will probably not work for you. Pay attention to the current trends as much as possible and do little changes will ultimately help you to get a record deal faster.
If you are not as talented as other artists, you are unlucky, or your music and look does not fit in with the current trend, you have probably not received a recording music contract from a record label. By changing those simple things you can change the minds of record labels and get your self that much closer to landing a record deal.
